For the 1st question, AutoCAD and Revit are 2 separate programs which are from 1 source - Autodesk. Using AUtodesk Revit, has very little to deal wth 3D rendering but more so to create a more accurate and intelligent building. Intelligent in the sense that the program recognises walls, doors, windows, etc. as entities of the building and not jsut a bunch of lines.

For the 2nd question, there are many packages for 3D imagery, 3D studio, MAYA, Rhino, Sketch Up etc.

Honestly I prefure just to use Autocad for the floor plans and the elevations and details and the usual stuff but for 3D stuff I honestly prefure Sketch up 6 which you can download from the internet for free.

AutoCad is a really great program even thou the price can be a lil high its well worth it when you actually learn how to use it all the way they have the 3D thing on the 2007 edition but its really hard to learn to use I'm still working on it.
